Who Requires CPR and First Aid Instruction?

Despite the overall benefits of CPR and first aid instruction, several industries and employers mandate certification in these areas. Some common job titles that require CPR and first aid certification include:

  • Healthcare Providers (Doctors, Nurses, EMTS, Paramedics)
  • First Responders
  • Lifeguards
  • Camp Staff
  • Organization and Group Leaders
  • Personal Trainers
  • Coaches (volunteers too!)
  • Day Care Providers
  • Home Health Aides
  • Nursing Home Assistants
  • Certified Nursing Assistants
  • Massage Therapists and Spa Employees

Common job titles that DO NOT typically require certification but is strongly recommended:

  • Babysitters and In-Home Childcare
  • Restaurant Staff
  • Hotel Hospitality Staff (Particularly if a pool is available)
  • Organization and Group Volunteers
  • New Parents too!
