Heartsaver® CPR/AED

This course focuses on adult and child CPR, as well as situations involving choking adults and children. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. It is a popular option for employees of corporations, businesses, as well as other community organizations such as youth sports leagues, and schools. An optional addition to the course adds instruction in the area of infant CPR and choking techniques. Training on the use of an Automated External Defibrillator is included.

  • Student materials will be provided the day of the course
  • A written exam is available if required by the student’s employer
  • A certification card, valid for two (2) years will be issued upon completion of this course

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the course, students should successfully:

  • Describe the purpose of high quality CPR
  • Describe the Chain of Survival
  • Recognize the need for CPR
  • Perform high quality CPR on an adult, child* and infant*
  • Perform high-quality CPR with assistance from others
  • Give effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
  • Demonstrate the use an AED on an adult and child*
  • Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child*
  • Demonstrate how to help a choking infant*

*Child and infant modules are optional.

Course Length: Adult Only: 2 hours
                            Adult/Child: 2 ½ – 3 hours
                            Adult/Child/Infant: 3 ½ – 4 hours
Certification Period: Two (2) years
