Our ASHI courses are designed with your community and workplace in mind and can be tailored to the needs of the students. Written exams may be given in the event the student has a duty or responsibility to act in the event of an emergency and in certain courses, such as CPR Pro for the Professional Rescuer and Advanced First Aid, successfully passing a written exam is required. First Aid & CPR

ASHI CPR Pro for the Professional Rescuer

This comprehensive CPR course will focus on the following areas: Basic Life Support (BLS) including adult and pediatric CPR, foreign-body airway obstruction, and use of Automated External Defibrillation (AED) devices in conjunction with CPR. This class is targeted towards professional rescuers, allied healthcare professionals, and/or individuals seeking to utilize their training to enter these fields. A written exam and skills evaluation (without assistance) are required to ensure proficiency.

Course Length:  Initial: 4 ½ – 5 hours
                        Renewal: 3-4 hours
Certification Period: Up to two (2) years

ASHI CPR & AED

This course focuses on adult and child CPR, as well as situations involving choking adults and children. This course is a popular option for employees of corporations and business, as well as other community organizations such as youth sports leagues, schools, and daycare centers. An optional addition to the course adds instruction in the area of infant CPR and choking techniques. Training on the use of an Automated External Defibrillator is included.

                       Without Infant: 2-3 hours

ASHI Basic First Aid

When properly applied, first aid skills can save lives and reduce recovery time. This course was designed for those in the community and the workplace who have a duty or a desire to respond to an emergency. Instruction covers all areas of the administration of first aid, inclusive of: legal aspects, emergency response, bleeding, shock, and soft-tissue injuries, bone, joint, and muscle injuries, medical emergencies, and heat and cold-related illnesses and injuries. Three formats are available: Adult, Pediatric, and Universal (encompassing both adult and pediatric emergencies).

                       Renewal: 2-3 hours (Less for Adult Only)
Certification Period: Up to two (2) years

ASHI Advanced First Aid

This course was developed for non-EMS responders in the public and private sectors including lifeguards, security personnel, law enforcement officers, and designated emergency responders with an inclination or need for advanced first aid skills including patient assessment and management of medical and traumatic emergencies.

Prerequisites: Current professional-rescuer level Basic Life Support
                      *Can be incorporated into the course*
Course Length: Initial: 17-20 hours (longer if CPR is incorporated)
                       Renewal: 7-10 hours

ASHI CPR, AED, & First Aid COMBO

This all-inclusive course provides the student with both first aid and CPR/AED instruction at the same time. This instruction is a great way to experience the incorporation of CPR into the first aid setting and allows for a great appreciation of patient assessment. This course also meets US Coast Guard Certification & Credentialing requirements for Mariners and is a required prerequisite to obtain a captain’s license. Three formats are available: Adult only, Adult/Child, and Adult/Child/Infant.

                       Adult/Child/Infant: 6-7 hours (less for Adult/Child)

ASHI Pediatric CPR, AED, & First Aid COMBO

This course provides those with exposure to children and infants in the community and workplace with the knowledge and confidence to respond to emergencies involving younger individuals. Instruction in both pediatric first aid and CPR/AED is included. This course does NOT include adult instruction. If it’s desired, please review the CPR, AED, and First Aid COMBO class which is all inclusive.

ASHI Bloodborne Pathogens

This is a must for anyone that can be potentially exposed to blood or bodilyBBP Biohazard fluids in the course of the day. The program satisfies the training requires set forth by the U.S. Department of Labor related to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030 for Bloodborne Pathogens. The course will cover what bloodborne pathogens are, how risks of exposure can be reduced, exposure response, and follow up necessities. This course will also review the employer’s emergency response plan as it applies to the workplace. This course must be renewed annually to maintain certification and meet regulation.

ASHI Emergency Oxygen

emergencyoxygenadminOxygen TankWhen the application of oxygen in necessary during an emergency, the necessary training is required to ensure its correct application. Those that respond in an environment where emergency oxygen is located should take this course to be knowledgeable in its use as it can pose a hazard if used incorrectly.

Prerequisites: CPR/AED or professional rescuer BLS
Course Length: 1-2 hours
Certification Period: Up to two (2) years

Wilderness First Aid

basicwildernessimageThose that enjoy participating in wilderness activities such as hiking, camping, biking, fishing, hunting, etc. can benefit from the added curriculum that includes an emphasis on environmental and biological hazards not normally found in the community or workplace. Recommended for relatively low-risk outdoor activities with definitive care not far away. This course meets the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid curriculum and guidelines.

Prerequisites: None (Basic first aid and CPR/AED strongly recommended)
Course Length: 16-20 hours
Certification Period: Up to two (2) years

Babysitter Safety

ASHI Child & Babysitting Safety (CABS)

Intended for the new and up-and-coming babysitter, this course will cover general safety practices when dealing with infants and children, proper methods for changing diapers, steps to manage choking in responsive infants and children, how to control bleeding, and how to perform spinal motion restriction. CPR and first aid certification is recommended prior to taking this course. The ideal age for taking this course is 14 years, however maturity and responsibility levels must always be considered when determining if this course is appropriate.

Blended Courses

All of the ASHI courses listed are offered in an online, eLearning format that provides the opportunity for the student to complete the coursework as described by the course offerings above in a Web-based, self-learning setting in the comfort of the home or office. At the end of the course, a certificate will be issued to move into the next phase of instruction. A follow-up session with an ASHI instructor is required for skills practice and final evaluation before a certification card can be issued.
